The suggestive recently renovated and independent ancient villa (5 sleeping accommodations) is situated in a magnificent hilly region only 8 kilometres west of Florence. The building stands on the hills surrounding Lastra a Signa and is immersed in the typical Tuscan landscape, characterized by vineyards and olive groves, ancient villas, farms and wonderful views of the Arno valley. The villa is immersed in peace and tranquillity in the outskirts of a small village called Calcinaia. The A1 motorway and the Florence-Pisa-Livorno expressway are within easy distance.
Accommodation
The villa features 1 double bedroom, 1 twin bedroom, 1 bedroom with French-size bed, 1 bathroom with bathtub, 1 bathroom with shower and 1 toilette. The entrance opens onto the large elegantly furnished and decorated living room with fireplace, satellite TV and access to the garden. A selection of books and guides on Florence, Tuscany and Italy in the bookcase. The CD player and a selection of classical music CD are at guests` disposal. Next to the living room there are a double bedroom furnished in Neoclassical style featuring a French-size bed and a large bathroom with two basins, shower, WC, washing machine and ironing equipment. An ancient staircase leads to the cave in the basement. With its brick barrel vault and the ancient jar dating back to the 17th century, the cave is the most original room of the whole villa. In the cave there is a selection of wines and olive oil produced with the vines and olives coming from the nearby vineyards and olive groves. The kitchen is equipped with electric oven, microwave oven, American coffee maker, 5-plate gas cooker and large fridge. The dining room at the back of the house opens onto the garden and is provided with stone fireplace, phone, 12-seater table and tableware.
On the first floor - provided with air conditioning - there are two double bedrooms: the former has a four-poster bed and a window overlooking Florence; the latter has a double bed that can be transformed into two single beds and original early 19th century decorations on the ceiling.
The small roof-garden offers breathtaking views of Florence, with the Cathedral in the background, of Lastra a Signa and of an ancient monastery dressing on the opposite hill. The Jacuzzi swimming pool (open from mid-May to mid-September) and the barbecue equipment in the garden are at guests` disposal. The garden is furnished with table, chairs, deckchairs and sunloungers for eating and relaxing in the open air.
Facilities
A lady living nearby arranges dinners for guests upon request. Jacuzzi swimming pool, garden, trekking trails, cooking lessons, barbecue equipment, tasting and sale of agricultural products, laundry area, satellite TV, air conditioning and parking lot. Small animals are welcome. Golf club and riding stables in the neighbourhood.
