Profile
The castle boasts ancient origins: the first settlement dates back to Roman times, when a centurion called Pantius was given the estate after having served Rome in Giulius Caesar legions.
In the Middle Ages the domain became a fee of the Boundelmonti family. The Buondelmontis transformed the ancient Roman house into one of their numerous castles and built the most ancient part of the actual structure.
In the following centuries, the history of the castle intertwined with that of the Florentine Republic, of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany and of the Kingdom of Italy.
In the 19th century the castle was renovated and transformed into a hunting house. King Victor Emmanuel II lived in the castle when Florence became the capital of Italy. The surrounding land was rich in game and vineyards that were said to produce a wine similar to Bordeaux.
Services
Restaurant - Today the most ancient part of the villa, where once the must fermented in enormous chestnut tuns and the wine was left to age, has been transformed into a restaurant reserved to the guests of the castle. The restaurant serves typical Tuscan dishes in brick vaulted rooms with stone walls. Reservation and information service for museums in Florence, public transportation service information and timetable, information on things to see and car parks.

Apartment Padronale ( 12 Beds ) - Situated on the main or noble floor of the villa is the Padronale apartment. Living in this space is like travelling back in time. The apartment is composed of a large living area with a fireplace, 5 bedrooms (3 of which have private bathrooms), a dining room, kitchen (equipped with an oven, a microwave, and a dishwasher), and 4 bathrooms with shower. The aesthetics of this apartment include original terracotta tile floors, wood coffered ceilings, and antique furnishings. A private courtyard is furbished with garden furniture and a stone barbecue.
