The cosy farmhouse (10 sleeping accommodations) is situated on the slope of a hill in Val d`Orcia, between Pienza and Montepulciano. The building has been recently renovated paying loving attention to original details (terracotta-tiled floors, beamed ceilings and decorative brick archways) and provided with all modern comforts (dishwasher, washing machine, satellite TV with DVD player, Internet connection, heating system, ceiling fans and heated towel rails). Some photographs recording the renovation works are displayed in the various rooms. The building and the surrounding garden follow the slope of the hill; as a result, the rooms spread out over various levels and in the garden there are two paved terraces, where guests can relax and dine in the open air. The swimming pool lies in the upper terrace, from guests can enjoy the breathtaking view of Montisi, the medieval town situated on the opposite hill, and of the surrounding countryside, with its olive groves, vineyards, cypresses and pines. Close to the swimming pool there is a partially covered area equipped with sunloungers, an 8-seater table and a build-in kitchen unit with barbecue, sink and fridge. The bowls pitch in the garden is at guests` disposal. Guests can dedicate to various activities: from hikes and horse and bike rides in the neighbourhood to hot air balloon flights and relaxing sessions in the spas in Chianciano Terme and Bagno Vignoni. In Val d`Orcia guests can dedicate to cultural and oeno-gastronomic tourism at the same time: not only are Montepulciano, Montalcino and Pienza important cities of art; they are also the centres where various culinary specialities, such as the red wines Vino Nobile and Brunello and the pecorino cheese, renowned all over the world, are produced. Other towns close to the farmhouse, such as San Quirico d`Orcia, Monte Oliveto Maggiore with its abbey and Siena, are worth a visit.
Accommodation
The farmhouse (5 double bedrooms and 3 bathrooms) leans against a hill and follows its slope; as a result, the rooms are spread out over different levels. The ground floor composes of living/dining room with 8-seater table, fireplace and leather sofas, fully equipped kitchen divided into two spaces by a brick archway and TV room. The glass door in the kitchen opens onto the front garden. From the larder, a staircase leads to an unusually round living room on the lower level. The TV room opens onto a paved terrace equipped with sunshades and garden furniture. From this terrace, a stone staircase leads up to a second terrace. From the lower terrace, a glass door leads into an annexe, divided into 2 double bedrooms and 1 bathroom with shower. Both bedrooms are provided with ceiling fans and French doors opening onto the balcony. The internal staircase in the TV room leads up to the first floor, consisting in living room with pietra serena fireplace, small study with Internet connection, 2 double bedrooms (one with en-suite bathroom with two basins, shower and bathtub) and 1 bathroom. The study features two glass door: the first opens onto the upper terrace and the second onto the external staircase leading to the front garden. During the renovation works a mini-apartment has been added below the annexe. The mini-apartment consists in a living room with kitchenette, 1 bedroom with two single beds and 1 bathroom.
