Spending a vacation in Pisa does not mean you have to abandon the idea of visiting the other Tuscan cities of art!

Lucca is just about 20 kilometres from Pisa; Pistoia and Prato are 60 and 75 kilometres away, respectively; and then there are Florence (within about 85 kilometres), Siena (115 km) and Arezzo (150 km).

As you can see, distances are not prohibitive, and can be covered in a couple of hours by car or even in a shorter time by train.

If you have decided to spend your Tuscan holidays in a rented villa in Pisa, you can leave the town of the Leaning Tower in the morning, let`s say around 9.00, and spend a whole day on Lucca city walls or in the narrow streets of Pistoia town centre, in the shadow of the Duomo of Prato or browsing the stalls of Florence traditional markets.

These cities of art are easily reached from Pisa both via motorway and rail. Reaching Siena and Arezzo, instead, requires a bit more time.

You could, therefore, rent a typical Tuscan holiday villa in Pisa countryside: for instance, it takes a bit more than an hour to reach Siena from some villages in Val di Cecina, whereas Arezzo is just an hour and a half from Lower Valdarno.
