Villa Oliveto stands on the hills of Valdichiana, just outside a village called Oliveto, not too far from Civitella in Val di Chiana. Like other villas situated in the province of Arezzo Villa Oliveto was built by order of the Counts Barbolani di Montauto.

Presumably built on an existing farmhouse, the present building is the result of a series of renovation works made during the 19th century. Like any other aristocratic master`s house, the villa features a main floor; the upper floor is reserved to servants and the lower one is dedicated to agricultural activities. The building is surrounded by a wide park and olive groves.

During World War II Villa Oliveto was transformed into a Nazi concentration camp.
