Livorno Historical Villas
Like those of Florence and Prato, also the province of Livorno has its Medicean villa: in fact, the one called Villa Fabbricotti was originally an interurban villa probably built by order of Ferdinando de` Medici.
During the 19th century the architect Vincenzo Micheli was active in the province of Livorno, where he built Villa Mimbelli and designed the park of Villa Fabbricotti, both situated in the province`s main city, Livorno.
Like in many other Tuscan provinces, many of the villas situated in Livorno and in its neighbourhood were originally farmhouses. This is the case of Villa Corridi, in Livorno, and of Villa Guerrazzi in Cecina, where for some years lived and the died the politician and writer Francesco Domenico Guerrazzi, active during the Italian Risorgimento.
