From the half of the 19th century Villa Corridi had belonged to the Corridi family, to whom it owes its name. The spa building designed by Angiolo della Valle is core of this residence.

Once the Corridi family became extinct, the villa stood unoccupied for a long time and in 1904 was transformed into a sanatorium. In the same period part of the garden was transformed into an Italian and part into an English garden; then a small theatre dedicated to the Livornese composer Pietro Mascagni was built.

In the 1970s the sanatorium was closed and the theatre renovated. The park, scattered with holm-oaks, elms, acacias, Aleppo pines and palms, has been opened to the public in the 1980s.
