Situated close to the Montalbano, Villa La Magia was built in the 14th century by order of the Panciatichi family. In origin, it was a fortified residence provided with towers, but in the course of the 15th century the villa was renovated and the two lateral avant-corps were added.

Grand Duke Francesco I de’ Medici bought the villa in 1581 and commissioned architect Bernardo Buontalenti to renovate the building and to realize an artificial pond in the surrounding park. Like many other villas belonging to the Medici family scattered in Tuscany, Villa La Magia was used, in fact, as hunting and fishing preserve.

The Attravanti family acquired the villa in 1645 and had the interiors renovated at the beginning of the 18th century. On this occasion, the villa was decorated with frescoes representing mythological subjects by Giovanni Domenico Ferretti, one of the most important 18th century Tuscan painters.

A wonderful park surrounds the villa, which in the course of the centuries has undergone several property transfers. The park still features the original decorations, dating back to the 17th century.
