It does not happen every day that you live in a house in Tuscany overlooking one of the major museums in Europe.

In fact, the Centro per l`Arte Contemporanea "Luigi Pecci" (Centre for Contemporary Art "Luigi Pecci") is sited in the eastern outskirts of the town. The Centro is dedicated to Luigi Pecci, the son of the industrialist Enrico Pecci, and was inaugurated in June 1988, three years after the beginning of the construction works.

The exhibition "Europa Oggi" was the first of many events that have attracted art lovers and tourists to the wool town since the 1980s.

The museum is not the only sign of the close relationship between Prato and art: the verdant garden that surrounds the Centro and the whole town are scattered with many works of art, including "Mezzaluna", a concrete work by Paolo Staccioli, "Artistic Fountains" by Italo Bolano and Tosco Andreini in Piazza della Libertà, the steel split column by Anne and Patrick Poirier and "Isla Nigra a Pablo Neruda" by Giò Pomodoro, situated in the garden in Via Carlo Marx.

In short, to the tourists who decide to visit it, Prato reveals itself as an unexpected open air museum to be visited day by day.
