A travel in the history of wine, among Chianti Montalbano DOCG, Carmignano DOCG, Barco Reale DOCG, Vin Ruspo DOC, Vin Santo DOC and so on: these simple words are a good synthesis of a visit to the Museum of Vine and Wine.

The museum is sited in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II in Carmignano and was inaugurated about ten years ago. It houses the tools farmers used in the past in the vineyards and in the cellars, over 800 bottles of Italian and European wines collected by the historian of economics Federigo Melis, photos dating back to the 20th century and even a 17th-century vine (the copy of a painting by Bartolomeo Bimbi conserved at Villa Ambra, one of the most beautiful period residences in the area).

After having visited the museum, you could have a pleasant walk in this corner of the province of Prato, where time seems to have stopped, and admire the wonderful panorama made of cultivated fields, rows of vines, twisted olive trees and vividly coloured farmhouses.

Most of these farmhouses have been skilfully renovated and are now offered to those tourists who are looking for a holiday farm where to spend their vacations.
