If you are on holidays in Mugello, it will only take you little time drive to reach the Trebbio Castle; even if you have rent an apartment in Florence it won’t take long to get here and it will give you the chance at the same time to take a look at the Florentine countryside.

As most of the Mugello mansions, also the Cafaggiolo Castle belonged to the Medici family. It was built by Michelozzo Michelozzi for want of Cosimo dei Medici and it was one of Lorenzo the Megnificent’s most loved places.

Although today the castle is private property, it is anyway possible to visit: you only have to call to book an appointment. You will then be able to enter the luxury apartments, admire the beautifully frescoed ceilings and walls, venture in the park. An as much exceptional spectacle is waiting for you from the top of the castle tower: once you are up there you will space out on the surrounding valleys and you’ll surely be enchanted by the view. To taste some of this ancient splendour and plunge yourself in a similar atmosphere you might think to rent a Mugello villa.

In the summer the castle turns into the seat for local events or small festivals: this might be one more reason to visit the castle, maybe to buy some typical products do bring back home as a souvenir form your Mugello.
