Like all the Mugello municipalities, Vicchio has the great advantage of being plunged in the beautiful and quiete Tuscan contryside and of being at the same time few kilometres away from Florence This little village in the province of Florence though, has something more to offer: it conveys a particolar charm to anyone who visits it, since right here are the birthplaces of Giotto and Beato Angelico.

Vicchio’s historical centre is pretty: in such a small place many sightseeings are gathered. The very heart of the village is Piazza Giotto, the main square, that hosts the ancient Palazzo Pretorio and the San Giovanni Battista Church.

Once here, you can’t but stop to visit Giotto’s Birthplace, an absolute must for the innumerable visitors that come here very year, and the Beato Angelico Museum. In the latter many religious works of art are colected, coming form almost all the rural churches spread all over the Mugello area.

To fully live nature, you can go hiking, biking, or horseback riding on one of the many tracks that will make you appreciate the beauty of these places, and stay in one of the many Mugello farmhouses in the surroundings. Morever, from the historical centre of Vicchio, you can get to the Montellari lake on foot in little time: this is absolutely the tight place for the whole family. Actually here you’ll be able to indulge in some relax on the lake shores in the shade of the trees of the surrounding park. For those who would like to spend their time in a more dynamic way, they will be able to take the chance to do some canoeing. If you are on holidays with your kids, the playground lake will keep them busy.
