Villa Borbone delle Pianore is complex composing of three buildings dating back to different periods and surrounded by a magnificent park by landscape architect Jean-Pierre Barillet-Deschamps.
The central part is the most ancient: it is a small building that in origin was a mill. Maria Teresa of Savoy, Charles Louis of Bourbon-Parma`s wife and Duchess of Lucca, commissioned the refurbishing of the mill in the 19th century. A chapel is annexed to the building, whose Neoclassical façade dates back to the 19th century. A lunette in the chapel reproduces the style of the Della Robbia`s ceramics.
The imposing three-storey building on the south was built in the 19th century reproducing some elements typical of Renaissance buildings.
Finally, in 1964 the northern part of the complex was built.
