Serchio River Park - The park was built for assisting in the recovery and development of the river as an essential element of the landscape, a discreet testimony of the passage of time. Here you will find an environment characterized by a balance between green areas and developed spaces, between dry riverbeds and urban areas, important ecological niches and farmland. The area does not lack in recreational activities, including soccer fields and a bocce area, runways for model airplanes and tracks for model cars, as well as archery, and skateboarding areas.

Located on the road that follows the river as it leaves the city, the Guglielmo Petroni terrace, dedicated to the deceased prestigious Luccan writer, is the ideal physical entrance to the River Park. It is also a pleasant rest stop, with trees, benches, a fountain and other street furniture that allow you to fully enjoy the presence of the river as you listen to the water flow and take in panoramic glimpses of the hills of Mount S. Quirico. The River Park offers three different itineraries: the natural route, the water route, and the historic route.

Natural route - This route follows two banks: one twists for about 11 km. between Ponte S. Quirico and Ponte S. Pietro, and the other for about 11 km. from Ponte S. Quirico to Ponte a Moriano. The first route is inside the rising Urban Park, between the histonc center and the river, connecting the urbanized areas in the city outskirts on the left bank of the river with the farmlands on the right bank. Water route - This route twists from the end of Ripafratta to the springs of the Nottolini aqueduct and the Pisani Mountains, following the Ozzeri Canal through farmland and scattered occupied settlements. The route is especially interesting, crossing remains of marshy areas where different species of lowland vegetation are found. Historic route - The route leaves from the "Parole d`oro" area on the slopes of Monti di Vorno, site of the reservoirs of the Nottolini aqueduct, following the arches to their end at the small Temple in S. Concordio, and then continues until it enters the historic downtown area of the city.
