Is Florence one of the capitals of fashions? According to the calendar of fashion events, the answer is certainly in the positive.

Many fashion exhibitions take place in the town of the lily during the year, with their appendix of galas, exclusive parties and vernissages. These fashion events attract many Italian and foreign VIPs and create a sparkling atmosphere in Florence

The list of the events taking place at the Fortezza da Basso or at the Stazione Leopolda include Pitti Immagine Uomo (dedicated to men`s fashion); Pitti Woman Pre-collection (dedicated to women`s fashion); Pitti Immagine Bimbo (children`s fashion); Pitti Immagine Filati (knitwear yarns); Fragranze (artistic perfumery, body essences, room scents); Immagine Italia & Co (underwear and household linen); Mare d`Amare (beachwear).

And the list could go on.

If you are spending some days in the town where have operated such important stylists as Enrico Coveri and Salvatore Ferragamo, after having rented an apartment in the historic centre, you should absolutely visit the Galleria del Costume and the Museo del Tessuto.

The former is in Palazzo Pitti. There you will find over 6,000 articles of clothing, accessories and theatre costumes.

The latter is in nearby Prato (you could reach in 10-15 minutes by train from your apartment in Florence and is dedicated to the strong bond existing between textile industry and the so-called Piana (the area that stretches between the rivers Arno and Bisenzio).
