Siena-Florence: more or less 68 kilometres, Siena-Arezzo: about 70 kilometres, Siena-Pisa: approximately 118 kilometres, Siena-Grosseto: nearly 80 kilometres.
The town of the Palio is quite close to all major Tuscan cities of art. Florence and Arezzo Pisa and Grosseto are rather easy to reach in an hour`s drive.

Therefore, if you are planning to rent a villa in Siena historical centre or you are thinking of spending your next holidays in Tuscany in a farmhouse on the hills that surround the town of the Palio, you will not have to renounce visiting the other Tuscan cities of art.

You could, in fact, look for a good food shop close to your villa or farmhouse and buy some focaccia, some sandwiches, ham and Tuscan salami, some slices of pecorino di Pienza cheese for a succulent pic-nic.
And then you just have to choose the destination of your one-day trip.

You could leave your holiday house in Siena and visit Florence and its beauties: the Duomo, Giotto`s bell tower, Palazzo Vecchio Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi Gallery and so on.
Or you could go to Pisa, with its Piazza dei Miracoli and the Leaning Tower.
Or you could visit Arezzo and buy breathtaking jewels in its master goldsmith`s workshops.
