We have already mentioned the legends about the foundation of the town of the Palio.

But Siena is a real Pandora`s box full of legends on strange creatures living in the underground, ghosts and apparitions in gardens and palaces, mysterious rivers searched for for over two centuries with no results.

The legend of the Diana was born during the construction of the bottini, the thick network of galleries used to supply water to the whole town.
According to the legend, the Diana is a river running through Siena The legend says that the guerchi heard the noise of its waters while they were realizing the underground waterworks between the 13th and the 15th centuries.
However, in spite of the long research, the Diana has never been found.

Even though they never found the Diana, someone says that the men working to the construction of the bottini often run into "omiccioli" and "fuggisoli".
What are "omiccioli" and "fuggisoli"?
