Description

The majestic villa stands in panoramic position atop a hill in Siena countryside, in Valdichiana.

As the cinerary urns that are to be admired in the park that surrounds the villa demonstrate, in the past the site was inhabited by the Etruscans. In the Middle Ages the fortress that was built over the Etruscan settlement was the object of a long struggle between Orvieto, Perugia and Siena. After almost 150 years under the rule of Siena, in the second half of the 16th century the fortress was annexed to the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. It is in that period that it was definitively transformed into a luxury villa.

The villa is an excellent accommodation for those who would like to relax in a luxurious and charming atmosphere, surrounded by the wonderful panorama of the Tuscan hills scattered with ancient villas. Many Tuscan and central-Italy cities of art, including Siena, Orvieto, Perugia, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Pienza and Arezzo, and Lake Trasimeno are within short driving distance.
A few kilometres from the property are also a tennis club and some thermal baths.


The Outdoors

Around the villa stretches a wonderful fully-fenced terraced park dotted with imposing century-old trees.
The estate is accessed through a gallery decorated with authentic Etruscan cinerary urns, which leads to an amphitheatre.

The private swimming pool (12x4 m; depth: 1.40 m) on the first level of the garden is built with the stones of an ancient Roman bridge. Close to the swimming pool are two gazebos and an annex divided into kitchen, sauna, dining room and a half bathroom.

Accommodation

The villa is a five-storey building that sleeps 14 guests in 5 double bedrooms and 2 twin bedrooms, and has 7 bathrooms and 1 half bathroom.

On the ground floor are the kitchen, a wide lounge with fireplace and a piano, the dining room, the pantry room and a half bathroom.
A travertine staircase leads to the first floor, composed of three double bedrooms with ensuite bathroom and a twin bedroom that can be transformed into a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom.
On the second floor are the library, two double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and a twin bedroom that can be transformed into a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom.
The third and four floors have maintained their original austere medieval style.

The dining room on the ground floor had a direct access to the park.

A shuttle from the town centre to the villa is available for free upon request.
